Josh & Jas - Lohri featuring Rupa

Today I am treating you to a little bit of musical bliss. With the Lohri festival a few days away, here are three guys who are really giving us something special to celebrate with. Their new song Lohri debuted on iTunes at the end of December 2011 and is taking the World Download Chart by Storm.

I would like to warmly welcome Divine Musiq - the infamous professional entertainment company, back to Shaadi-Esque for they have already featured with us previously with their blog post inspiring our ‘first dance’ and ‘wedding song’ selections. Today two individuals from the DJ collective, Josh & Jas, forming the duo since 2010, have launched three debut singles all ranking within the top 10 download charts. Their third and most recent song Lohri featuring  Rupa which debuted on iTunes on Thursday 22^nd December 2011, has whizzed up iTunes’ Top 10 World Download Chart in its first week.

The Lohri song is in fact a tradition that many Punjabi’s and those from Northern India still celebrate to this day. It is said to mark the end of winter, and is celebrated with song and dance, a banqueted meal and a bonfire where various staple grains are thrown in. The festival is to announce the start of a new and greater harvest and prayers are carried out to ask for such a good harvest to follow. With very few Lohri songs for a DJ to choose from, these two down to earth guys have really taken it upon themselves to create a fun, new take on the festival - full of tradition and spark with an essence of freshness (I mean new zest).

It may spark an interest to you (as a reader) why Shaadi-Esque would feature Josh & Jas and their new song release... Well I shall tell you - The song is especially important for a newlywed couple’s first Lohri with their adjoined families and friends and even more spectacular when they have their first born child. The festivities are more extravagantly portrayed and elaborately celebrated.

Josh & Jas have proven themselves as ground-breaking DJ’s and among all artists who have shown that they are two, young at heart and humble guys who understand the need to accommodate to the young as well as the customary crowd. Josh & Jas, with their own style and swagger have merged two unique and experienced paths to create this great collaboration. Lohri is coming fast, this Friday 13th January, so why not celebrate with this great new track!
