{Inspiration} The Queen's Jubilee and High Tea

2012 is most definitely an epic year for weddings. This year as well as this country, that'll be the United Kingdom, have several events that are paying homage to our culture and heritage of being British. These key events are the Queen's Jubilee and the 2012 London Olympics.

Concentrating on being British, we honour Queen Elizabeth II’s 60 year reign in the UK. Whilst doing my research for Her Majesty, it cannot be reckoned that actually she is a pretty extraordinary monarch. Take a look at some of these mesmerising facts about the Lady herself.

♥ The Queen is currently patron of over 600 charities and organisations, over 400 of which she has held since 1952.

♥ Since 1952, The Queen has conferred over 404,500 honours and awards.

♥ The Queen has attended every opening of Parliament except those in 1959 and 1963, when she was expecting Prince Andrew and Prince Edward respectively.

♥ The Queen has answered around three and a half million items of correspondence.

♥ In 60 years, The Queen has undertaken 261 official overseas visits, including 96 State Visits, to 116 different countries.

♥ The Queen has sat for 129 portraits during her reign.

♥ The Queen learnt to drive in 1945.

♥ The Queen's real birthday is on 21st April, but it is celebrated officially in June.

So in true British Tea Party Fashion, I have put together some brilliant 'High Tea' favourite desserts to astound your guests with. I actually showed this idea to one of my bride's the other day and she, much like myself has a great fondness of sweets and decadent desserts, almost fell forwards with the idea of a beautiful selection of 'Afternoon Tea-like' desserts on each table. Turning dessert into more of a social affair rather than a one moment and your out the door occurrence!!

{Inspiration} Biggest Wedding Centrepiece Inspiration Board

Ooh yes, you read the title, I reckon this could pass as a Guinness World Record for largest Inspiration Board for Wedding centrepieces. Well, that might be a little optimistic, however this really is a phenomenal board to be inspired over.

{Inspiration} It's almost St Patrick's Day

For all of those celebrating St Patrick's Day tomorrow - this is a special inspiration board inspired by you. This one is full of different shades of green, from lime to the garden variety. Green in this board, represents chic and everything classic about it; from the wedding mint favour tins, to the bouquet, couture gown to the apple place names.

If you are in London this weekend, then I most certainly recommend you join the St Patrick's Day parade on Sunday 18th March from 12-2pm, although the festival carries on until 8pm! It will be a full filled day with marching bands, floats, food stalls, performers and most definitely live music. The parade will start at at Green Park and will continue through Piccadilly, Regent Street, Pall Mall and Whitehall. So that will most certainly be another superb cultural event in London - you have got to love living in such a colourful city!

{Inspiration} Its not all about Red on Valentines day

Good Morning my lovelies and Happy Valentines to you all! 

Valentines day has been around for some centuries and for a long time now, red has been the associated colour for this 'one day of love'. February is suppose to be the most romantic month in the calendar, however so far it was been cold, cold .. and very cold. But that may be different for you wherever in the World you may be.

So to break all traditions, as we at Shaadi-Esque love to do; we are showcasing an inspiration board for peach, pink and subtle tones of cream. If Shaadi-Esque had it our own way, we would make a lot more changes to St Valentine's promising day of Roses and gifts.

{Wedding Feature} Shivani and Gurdeep

This morning I have a special treat for you, I have a classic Hindu Punjabi wedding to get you into the weekend mood, although we are one day away - it can't hurt! The fabulously gorgeous Shivani and the handsome Gurdeep share with us their magical wedding and reception. What a stunning couple.

The couple both dressed in beautifully chic, classic cream and gold attire, with the matching gold jewellery and fitting smiles. Individually they strut their own looks and identities. Shivani is like an old-school Bollywood princess, with her simple yet very classic, but not light weight sari. And Gurdeep is a modern looking mogel, with his detailed sherwani with deep maroon undercoat. Together they are a picture perfect couple (below) as they look deep within eachothers eyes - their future awaits them. (Mushy feeling)

The Mandap inspiration is very much the same as their attire, the couple have kept the colours simple and kept a continuum going which is lovely to see. There is nothing distracting the eyes away from the beauty of the room, the setting and the gorgeous couple. They either had a great wedding planner or are fabulous planners themselves.

I shall let you indulge in this wedding and I will stop talking now, for it is one to be admired and adorned!

{Inspiration} Purrty in Pink Chic Inspiration Board

Just something sweet and cute this morning. This pink inspiration board is just so delicious - its mouth watering.

There are so many shades of pink, that you can really have an entirely pink wedding and it wouldn't look over the top what so ever! This is probably the best thing about colours - you can only have excess of one colour if you are using the same tone throughout. By mixing any colour with so many degrees of white, you will get the many lighter shades which can make up this pantone wedding of pinkness.

I shan't say any more - this one is just to glare at.

January Round up ...

January saw the start of a fresh new year and a truly awakening spring in The RS Bridal Group’s step. Not only can we welcome some fabulous Brides and Grooms to our Wedding Planners Books, but some more clients destined for great weddings who have booked themselves with rs Weddings’ Theme Design Packages.

But what you really want to know and what I really want to tell you about is how phenomenal Shaadi-Esque has been doing just this past month. Designers, Charitable activities, Wedding features, Chinese New Year, Musical Talent and our very first lifestyle feature. It has been a very busy month for Shaadi-Esque and indeed the RS Group.

We celebrated alongside Charmi Mandavia, designer and owner of Charmi Creations at the launch of her fabulous chic new Boutique in Pinner. We showcased Raishma’s designs and took a little look at how she has evolved as a designer and above all made her brand individual and highly regarded. The final designer showcased this month was Sati Takhar, whose couture pieces really made a mark with Shaadi-Esque and we really look forward to seeing what is in stall for all the designers and suppliers who feature with us.



Most recently we witnessed the Chinese New Year which was highly regarded as the Year of the Dragon.  Auspicious and longevity are symbolised by the Dragon, so this was one year we didn't want to miss out on. We featured three bright and beautiful rouge Dragon inspired boards which blew our readers away, they were fusion, individual and outright spunky!



Shaadi-Esque joined The RS Bridal Group in some rather selfless acts this January. We joined forces to bake some delicious yumminesses for the homeless shelter in the London Borough. For dessert that evening they enjoyed 'Lilac Cupcakes and Ordo Brownies'. Making me drool thinking about it. (Oh boy!)

We went so far as to feature a talented duo as they debuted their new track 'Lohri' which took the iTunes download charts by storm. Shaadi-Esque's little nugget of showbiz-nes!!

Let's not forget our new Lifestyle feature, of which Dishoom in London got their first serving. It was all about the bollybelini's. And then some! :)



We have featured some amazing weddings and some even more fabulous bride's and groom's. We love sharing special weddings, unique ideas or just special moments. A picture does say a thousand words, and Shaadi-Esque readers know it!



Specially for January we were fortunate to attend an engagement party for which we were thoroughly impressed with, we observed, thoroughly enjoyed, and blogged at our hearts content.

So What a busy and pretty phantasmal month January has been. Quite the start to the year and there has been some fond, memorable posts that we wish to continue with.

{Inspiration} Wedding Invitation

Happy Monday readers!! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend, I was lucky enough to spare some time and pop down to Trafalgar Square yesterday for the Chinese New Year Parade and celebrations. I was far too trigger happy as my camera's 16G memory card was almost full. It was a beautiful day full of performances, dance routines, martial arts, parades, plenty of Dragons and so much more.. It was wonderful being a part of the day's festivities. But anywho ... Back to lovely weddings ......

Today's post is simply but surely opening your eyes to some pretty great and different Wedding Invitations. So many styles to choose from - there is no need to choose one you have already seen before.



It never quite amazes me how different the floods of wedding invitations I receive are. They come in different shapes and sizes, designs and colours, pop up or information wallets and laser cut to handmade with elaborate jewels.

Your Wedding invitation says a lot about you and your wedding. It makes a statement, and is almost like a sneak peek into the wedding itself. Save the dates, wedding invitations, place cards, menu’s should all me kept to the same theme, font, colours etc. Consistency is a necessity and your guests will remember the whole journey far better from the moment they received your invitations to the wedding day itself. It’s a definite psychology.

Here are some pretty great, retro and different wedding invitations that will draw a smile from any guest. Wedding stationary is easy to customise, you just need to find the write stationary supplier who matches the ethos you are going for.



These two are pretty and funny, depending on your personalities, your guests, your themes - these are all things you should take into consideration.



This one has a very Vintage or Western  feel - so if it suits then go for it.



This one is gorgeous, I know there are a few brides who will fall over just looking at this. If anything it makes a statement.



These two are just classic examples of how creative you can get. The one to the right is most probably my favourite. You just give your guests a little piece of what they can expect at your wedding and you will notice how many RSVP's and funny phone calls and emails you will receive.

{Wedding Feature} The Attended Engagement

My weekends are filled with appointments and weddings, so when I attend a wedding with Jazz and spunk I have to share it with you. Today’s blog post is all about an engagement party I attended the Saturday just past - experience this with me.

There are no images for this post, so you will need to do some serious visualising – got it? Good!

Just to give you some visualisation prompts - let's think rouge, a sophisticated version of Moulin Rouge. Just hold on to that thought - just until the end of this post...

My first impressions ♥

Upon entering The Radisson Blu in Portman Square; in the lobby laid out beautifully on the table adjacent to the entrance were several fish bowls with purple toned lilies folded within, submerged in water. As well as these fish bowls were tall wider vases with tall flowers (the names of them escape me). So not only were there different dimensions to this table layout, they were a welcoming touch that I most definitely appreciated as a guest.

Within the table of fascinating floristry was the sign pointing us in the right direction – so we followed suite, and up in the lift to the first floor. (Yes that's right I took the lift to the first floor, only because my sari prevented me to move a lot). So - we arrived to the reception area where there were tall bar-like tables draped in black linens with a sprinkling of rose petals. The bar and food area were on separate sides of this room which was great for traffic.

N.B. People tend to clump around the bar area whereas the food table is always free flowing. Definite easing of traffic!

Starters ♥

Munching down on our starters which were; Chicken Tikka, Kebabs, Aloo Tikki, Fish Pakora, Paneer Tikka, and an assortment of chutney's and sauces. The Caterers were Laguna, their food was impressive to say the least. Tasty, well made, and a really good selection to get the party started.

The Next Part ♥

We were kindly requested to move to the main hall. Walking into this large hall - at this moment I paused, exhaled and continued walking. The entire room was laid out so wonderfully, with black table linens, black chair covers and red sashes. Now those who know me as a wedding planner will know that I detest chair covers completely, but in this case - they boded well with the continuum of the colour theme.

The centrepieces on every table were a long tall milkshake glass, filled with red coloured water and one of each of Anturio and Heliconia. Tables were numbered as to not confuse us, the old biddies or the humourless. The couple had their thrones set upon the black LED dance floor, cream and white pieces or woodwork. You can't really complain about a throne - I mean that should be some sort of unwritten rule or something.

Anyway whilst the engagement rituals were being conducted and the family and friends queued up to give their blessings - the rest of us sat by and enjoyed the bliss of the couple whose presence we were in. Shortly after, mains were served.

The Main Meal ♥

Laguna have these pretty neat looking brass rings which they sit the Karahi's of food on which actually looks really smart. While the food was being dished out, I was increasingly hungry at this point. On the menu was Kali Dhal, Palak Chicken, lamb curry and one other vegetarian dish. Oh that meal was rather tasty, I grew increasingly fond of Laguna as the evening progressed. Laguna are not a Caterer I have ever used before, but it is at events like these that you can truly appreciate a great supplier at work!

The Afters ♥

The music was extraordinary. I don't particularly make an effort to keep up to date with Bhangra or Indian music - but there was a really fab mix of English, Bhangra and Bollywood classics (that even I had heard of). I must say the DJ’s really knew how to please the crowd, I don’t think that dance floor was empty at all for the rest of the night. DJing were Sting London - MC G, DJ Arun and Gurinder.

Dessert ♥

Oh and this wedding had a dessert table! I love dessert tables, they are such a quirky take on cake and kulfi. Haha. This was the best bit. Pistachio Kulfi, Gagar Halwa, Wedding Cake and two great Karahi’s filled with Khara Prashaad. Oh what a combination. What a Combination!

THE CAKE! It followed the 3-tier format, and the colours coordinated well with the theme with reds and oranges on white marzipan. Ultimately the cake tasted like any cake should have- pretty dang good. It was a great looking cake, it suited the theme well and it was a fun not to serious type of cake – which seemed to bode well with the couple – who were a quirky fun pair.

Commendable ♥

There are two things I must commend this wedding on. Firstly, the caterers Laguna, were spot on, delightful staff, and not forgetting the food, it was just wonderful. Perfect temperature, laid out well, presentable and oh so yummy. {www.lagunarestaurant.com} And secondly, the DJ's were what this night was all about. Sting Roadshow stole the show and their team were phenomenal at getting the party started and retaining that vibe all the way until the end. Sore feet and grins all around is all that I could see. There is always something to appreciate about a dj when they can keep people dancing until the nights up! Even I was up on the dancefloor which very (very very) rarely happens. {Inspiration Board} Chinese New Year for the Chic, Glamorous and The Ultra Quirky

Being The Chinese New Year and in true Oriental fashion this blog post is all about red tones and fusion oriental design.

Just below in the first inspiration board, we explore some creative crafty ideas with a pretty dessert table, a fusion bridal gown and a super classic wedding cake to tone this inspiration board and really class it up a bit. You may notice this inspiration board is a toned down version of a classic Asian/Oriental inspired theme, namely for its base tone is white. Traditionally the base colour will be red and the sub tones will all be gold or deeper reds etc. The white makes it all very clear cut - clean and that bit more chic.

The high heels are the finishing touches to this simple chic wedding theme, as all inspiration boards need that little spunky character that adds dimension.

This I would absolutely label the Glamour inspiration board, purely because everything from the number of layers in the cake, to the slim, figure extenuating gown to the Fab bouquets that are not in the slightest going to over rule the attention of the dress - all are components of what makes up a glamorous look.

When I say glamorous, I really mean to say highly adorned - classic yet absolutely stunning. I do not mean to say Over the Top, Trying too hard or not making the right statement.  This inspiration board is just simple but elaborate, for example the dress is elaborate but the detail is simple, the cake slices are elaborate but the icing is simple, the richness of colour of the bouquets are elaborate, but the design is simple. All these components make up a fabulous wedding sleek wedding that doesn't try too hard. (I reeeeeeeeeally hope that makes sense.)

This is by far my favourite. Its a retro, Ultra quirky wedding inspiration fun. From the cute little car, to the converses to the tea set. All unbelievably different and really a unique style. And that is all I will say on the matter!

{Inspiration} How **FUNKY** can your Wedding Bouquet Get

Shaadi-Esque is feeling very floral today, we are getting a little bored of seeing the same Floral Bouquet's all the time, although who's not to say that actually some classic looks really suit some brides and more importantly their dresses, but we are venturing out to a wider more creative styling.

Knowing the right bouquet to purchase can be somewhat of a nightmare. With so many to choose from, so many different flowers, materials, designs, lengths etc.. I have selected some of my favourite most chic and quirky bridal bouquets I could get my hands on. These surpass the standard flower bouquets that you can purchase, into a realm of imagination and fabulosity!

Choosing your bouquet isn't easy, visiting the florist and flicking through their portfolio could be a nightmare. You are better off having some magazine clippings of what you would like - rather than confusing yourself and your florist.

Helpful Hints on choosing your Bouquet:

♥ If opting for Lilies, ensure you remove the pollen, as that orange colour stain on a wedding dress before the cake cutting ceremony can be utterly catastrophic.

♥ Don't go for flowers that are the exact same colour as your wedding dress, and if you do, try two or three different shades, otherwise your bouquet will blend obscurely with your dress and go unnoticeable.

♥ I love the weird and wonderful bouquet's below, they are crafty, easy to make and look so Chic .. yet contemporary, that is if you get the combination right.

♥ Don't be afraid to be different, go crazy, add a little something to make your bouquet pop, whether its a material or plastic butterfly, some foliage, a totally crazy colour etc.

If you are making your own then here is how to Decorat the stems:

1♥ Slice any thorns off, blood dripping on your bridal gown is the worst possible combination.

2♥ Tie a rubber band or string to keep the bouquet in place just as you want it.

3♥ Cover the stems with any material, cloth, rope, tape, ribbon etc.

4♥ For extra Jazz, add whatever décor options you want from Swarovski Crystals, more ribbon, tie a nice bow or sash.

Oh it couldn't be any easier to be honest! - That is after you have the idea, design and find all the materials - otherwise it is a piece of cake!

{Inspiration Board} What Vintage Loves, Vintage Gets

Just a quick little inspiration for you this afternoon to keeping you awake and agile. The Day is young people!! Cease it!

I am absolutely, positively head of heels for this part inspiration board and part style board. Culturally it feels like an Old Bollywood movie, and the bride here is giving off a very Cleopatra look, with her dark eyes and gold jewellery and complexion.

Vintage is the emphasis on beauty, it is always a classic effortless look that is classy all year round.

{Inspiration} Some definite *Wedding Cake* Eye Candy

Shaad-Esque has been running for just under a year and a half which makes it the youngest part of the RS Bridal Group. Over time we have been fortunate enough to gain a credible number of sponsors and a growing readership that has been loyal and wonderful at every turning point in the blog so far. Daily I receive emails for what readers want to see on the blog and this is what I relay onto the daily posts. This blog is managed by its readers and that is what makes it so special.

Through a recent survey on Shaadi-Esque I conducted - it seems that the majority of my wonderful readers love the recent wedding features and the wedding decor posts but mostly I think you guys quite like to just dribble over the cake blog posts I put up. It is really interesting to see what you love to see and it was so charming to hear back from so many of you – so Thank you very much for your feedback.
